Now that we are officially into fall (and getting ever so close to winter), I have been living in my OTK boots day after day. I realized that all of the OTK boots I have I purchased last November and barely wore them. What was wrong with me?! I started wearing them this season and I fell in love as if they were brand new! (I guess they basically were lol)
So now that I’m wearing them, it’s like I can’t stop. Fall just means cozy sweater dresses and OTK boots to me. You just can’t go wrong with that outfit. For this look I paired them with my favorite high waist jeans from H&M and this adorable sweatshirt from Nordstrom Rack.
If you follow me on IG you’ve probably read about my woes of barely having any tops. It’s a travesty, y’all. As a fashion stylist and blogger I oughta be ashamed. I don’t know how it happened! Well, actually I do. I just ended up with a bunch of dresses because it’s so easy to just throw one on and go. You can just dress it up with heels or dress it down with sneakers depending on your look for the day.
With tops and separates you have to take time to put a look together like, “What top goes with what bottom?” Will it match? Will this work?” There’s a lot of questions that go into it for me, but I tend to overthink things so I think that’s my main issue. I’m challenging myself to get out of this rut and get some tops and more separates options period to try out some new looks. I’m taking you guys on this journey with me and I know you guys will help hold me accountable!
I will say that a great thing about having tops and separates is that you can create so many different looks with them, which is what I’m looking forward to most. I can easily swap out this sweatshirt for a cream, chunky knit sweater and a bold red lip (enter: Rihanna’s #STUNNA lip paint) and I basically have a whole new look by just changing the top.
This outfit is a step in a new direction for me with adding and wearing more tops and separates to my wardrobe. It seems pretty basic, just a top and jeans, but as you read it’s obviously a big deal for me! I enjoyed how this look came together with the OTK boots and the faux fur jacket from Target. The navy and gray work really well together and this has now become one of my favorite looks to wear. And to think I bought these boots a year ago and they barely saw the light of day. They are definitely getting their due shine now!
Are you like me and do not have any tops and separates? Is this something you’re trying to work on? Or are you the complete opposite and can bestow some advice and encouragement on me? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!
