Now that fall weather has finally started to show up (for some of us, anyway) it’s time to start revamping your wardrobe. You might hear a lot of style experts talk about having wardrobe staples on hand to help you build a wardrobe. Well, they’re absolutely right. Wardrobe staples put you into pilot mode when it comes to getting dressed every day and will keep you from feeling like you have nothing to wear. One of those staples is a LBD, little black dress, which is probably my favorite staple. The LBD is undefeated and can go from casual to dressy to sporty in just one or two simple steps.

This LBD I’m wearing here is from none other than Nordstrom Rack so you know that means I didn’t spend a pretty penny on it at all. As a matter of fact if I remember correctly, I found it on the clearance rack for dirt cheap. Talk about a steal! It’s become one of my favorite pieces for the fall season because of the high neck, midi length and long sleeves. Three components that keep my look within chillier temperature guidelines. I of course paired it with my favorite pair of booties from Public Desire, because why not? All black is so chic and if you know me pretty well or if you’ve been following me for some time, you know my love for black runs deep.

Which leads me to my next point about the color black being a truly classic color that will never go out of style. That is also why having a LBD serves you so well. It will most likely always be in style, especially if you keep it classic and chic and it will be in your wardrobe for years to come. If there ever comes a time where you’re stumped on what to wear to a work event, date night, girls’ night out or even brunch, the LBD will be your friend.

If you’re going for a more casual, brunch on the weekend look wear your LBD with a cute pair of pointed toe flats or low heeled booties. You’re going for a dressy look here so either of those or another pair of casual shoes you have would pair nicely. But for a dressier look with your LBD you can go with an ankle strap heel or a classic pump and for something more laid back or sporty for weekend errands just throw on your comfiest pair of sneakers like a pair of Adidas or Chuck Taylor’s and you’re all good to go.

It really is just that simple to wear your LBD in many different ways. Start by playing around with swapping out your footwear and go up from there. Add accessories, a cross body bag or a clutch depending on your lifestyle and the versatility goes on and on. For this particular look I’m wearing I would wear this exact outfit on a date night, (if I could actually get a date, ha ha ha!) out to a fashion event or to meet my girls for drinks. This look would work for any of those occasions.

When it comes to a LBD you don’t necessarily have to break the bank either. As I mentioned before I snagged this one on clearance and it looks fab! Because I want you to keep a LBD or two in your arsenal, I’ve rounded up a few picks for you all under $50! I am all about looking great and not spending a lot of money to do so. Take a look at my picks below and let me know what you think!

Do you have a LBD in your closet or are you in need of one? Let me know in the comments!
